Trump: Can he handle the diplomatic heat?

Standard

It finally happened. The real estate and media mogul of the US, Donald Trump, became the 45th President of the US after taking oath during the Inauguration Day on January 20, 2017. He beat former First Lady and former US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, last year, in what is considered the most unpredictable US Elections in history.

President Trump, a verbally active and often time inconsiderate, has never held any official office, therefore, the American people and the world is concerned how will he devise and implement foreign policies and socio-economic vision when he has no diplomatic experience whatsoever. Some opine and fear that Donald Trump may run the state affairs akin to running a business and if this were true, then the US may not remain as great a nation it was until the end of former President Obama’s tenure. One wonders if President Trump can handle the day-to-day operations of the White House, global concerns, diplomatic challenges and political scuffles that are part of the job?

It is yet to be seen what policies Trump will have for the Middle East and South Asia – especially for India, Pakistan, and China – and for the Far Eastern nations. Now that the Trumps are in the White House, gold, glitter, controversies and awkward statements may become a norm and Washington may remain in the news, not for the right reasons.
